It’s the watchdog, ensuring the integrity of the Department of the Interior’s vast operations. Think of the national parks, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the U.S. Geological Survey. These are just a few of the agencies falling under the Department of the Interior’s umbrella. The Department of the Interior, Office of Inspector General investigates and audits these programs. Its purpose is to root out any waste, fraud, and abuse, safeguarding taxpayer dollars and the nation’s resources. Mark Greenblatt served as the Inspector General in 2019.
