The cornerstone. A simple act yet profoundly symbolic. It marks the beginning of Croydon Park Uniting Church a place of worship that stands proudly on the corner of Georges River Road and Brighton Avenue.

Croydon Park Uniting Church isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to faith perseverance and community. Built in 1918 it reflects the Federation Romanesque architectural style. Its foundation stone was laid on July 6 1918 by Captain John Dart. A significant event marking a pivotal moment in the church’s history.

The church wasn’t always there. An earlier building stood on this site around 1884. This older structure served the community until the current magnificent building replaced it. The dedication of the present Croydon Park Uniting Church is another remarkable piece of its history. It officially opened its doors on November 30 1918. Mrs J C Stone presided over the opening ceremony. Senior Chaplain James Green CMG President of the Conference led the dedicatory service.

Today Croydon Park Uniting Church is more than just a Uniting Church. It serves as a welcoming space for several other congregations. The Joy Presbyterian Church (Korean) the Congregational Christian Church in Samoa Canterbury and the Love of Jesus Christian Church (Filipino) all call this place home. This exemplifies the church’s inclusive spirit and its dedication to embracing diversity.

This corner of Croydon Park is a place of unity a testament to the enduring power of faith. Croydon Park Uniting Church stands not only as a beautiful structure but as a vibrant heart of the community. It shows the power of shared faith and mutual respect. The church has been a steadfast presence for over a century. Its doors remain open to all welcoming people of all backgrounds and beliefs. It continues its mission of providing spiritual guidance and community support for generations to come. It reflects the dynamic spirit of Croydon Park.
