It was then that Chartwell School became a pioneer in bicultural education as a joint Japan-New Zealand education venture. This unique partnership, the first of its kind globally, was established to cater to the growing number of Japanese families residing in Wellington. Imagine Japanese students spending their mornings immersed in the Japanese curriculum with their dedicated teachers, then seamlessly transitioning to New Zealand classes each afternoon. Meanwhile, New Zealand children embraced the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Japanese language and culture.
