A new “Active Youth Precinct” emerged, featuring a plaza-style skate park, a pump track, and even parkour facilities. Fitness equipment and bike repair stations were also added, catering to a wider range of interests. The reserve also houses Sutherland Shire’s largest all-abilities playground. This playground is a marvel of inclusive design, featuring wheelchair-accessible pathways, communication boards for non-verbal and visually impaired visitors, and a unique water misting clothesline for those hot summer days. Evenings at Cooper Street Reserve are equally lively. The Active Precinct is illuminated until 9 pm, allowing skaters and riders to enjoy the facilities after sunset. The lighting design is thoughtful, dimming at 8:45 pm before switching off completely to minimize disruption.
