Here at Construção Estação Guilherme Giorgi, a vision takes shape. A new subway station is emerging. It promises to revolutionize transportation in São Paulo.

Construção Estação Guilherme Giorgi is not just another construction site. It represents progress. It embodies the spirit of innovation. This station is part of the Line 2-Verde expansion. It aims to connect Vila Prudente to Dutra.

Imagine the scale of this project. In September 2023, the base slab was poured. Three hundred and fifty concrete mixer trucks were used. They poured 2,800 cubic meters of concrete. This massive effort covered 731 square meters.

The base slab is the station’s foundation. It is the first major permanent structure. Once complete, it will support the tracks. This allows the tunnel boring machine to move. The slab will later house the permanent tracks. It will also contain ventilation and cable ducts.

Currently, Construção Estação Guilherme Giorgi is 41% complete. Workers have installed retaining walls. They have also set up a groundwater lowering system. Excavation and waterproofing are underway.

The station’s location is on Avenida Guilherme Giorgi. It sits near Avenida Conselheiro Carrão in Vila Carrão. The project was initially called Nova Manchester Station in 2009. This was after a revision of the Line 2-Verde expansion. The line was rerouted towards Penha. This allowed the inclusion of the station.

In October 2020, the station was renamed Guilherme Giorgi. It honors Guglielmo “Guilherme” Giorgi. He was an Italian immigrant born in 1877. He arrived in Brazil in 1879.

Giorgi founded a textile company in 1920. It was named Cotonifício Guilherme Giorgi S/A. The factory moved to Avenida Guilherme Giorgi in 1940. This area became known as Jardim Têxtil. The factory boosted the area’s urbanization. It spurred public infrastructure development.

The Cotonifício Giorgi thrived. It became part of a large national conglomerate. The factory closed in the 1990s. A campus of the Universidade Bandeirante de São Paulo occupied the site. Later, a residential complex was built. Part of the land was allocated for this station.

The opening of Construção Estação Guilherme Giorgi is planned for the second half of 2027. This station will improve the lives of countless residents. It will cut travel times and reduce pollution. The Line 2-Verde extension will serve over 1.1 million passengers daily. It will reduce air pollutants by nearly 20,000 tons per year. It will save 9.7 million liters of fossil fuels annually.

Construção Estação Guilherme Giorgi is more than bricks and mortar. It is a testament to progress. It is a symbol of São Paulo’s vibrant future.
