Once a quarry now a construction site. Welcome to Construção do Pátio Morro Grande. This is the future heart of São Paulo’s Linha 6-Laranja subway line.

Construção do Pátio Morro Grande is no ordinary construction site. It is a crucial element for the new subway line. It will house the railway workshops and depots.

Imagine this area transformed. It will become a hub of activity for the subway. The location is north of the Brasilândia station. This places it at one of the highest points on Linha 6-Laranja.

The project started in 2015. The initial concessionaire faced setbacks after Operação Lava Jato. In 2020 Acciona stepped in. They formed Concessionária Linha Uni.

The Linha 6-Laranja is currently the largest infrastructure project in Latin America. It is a public-private partnership. The São Paulo State Government and Concessionária Linha Universidade work together. Acciona executes the construction. The project generates over 9000 jobs.

Before construction workers had to drain a lake. The area was once known as “Prainha da Brasilândia”. It was a popular local spot.

The Pátio Morro Grande will accommodate 22 trains. These trains will transport over 600000 passengers daily. Alstom will produce the trains in Taubaté.

The site includes several key structures. There is a maintenance block a sizable parking area and administration buildings. There are also energy system cabins. A control center will manage the entire Linha 6-Laranja.

The maintenance block spans 16000 square meters. It will have seven tracks for train maintenance. It will feature overhead cranes to move heavy equipment. This includes train air conditioners.

The administration building covers 3500 square meters. It will house all concessionaire teams. This includes technical staff and senior management. Its location near the entrance offers a great view. Staff can monitor trains arriving and departing.

Two substations will provide power. One supplies medium voltage power to the trains. The other provides low voltage power to support systems.

Underground tunnels house the power cables. These tunnels ensure maintainers can work comfortably. They avoid unsafe confined spaces.

Tunnels connect Brasilândia Station to the Pátio Morro Grande. These tunnels are essential for train movement. Explosives were used to excavate through granite.

Safety is paramount. Coordination among teams is a priority. Safety routes allow workers to move without risk. Alarms warn of controlled detonations in the tunnel areas.

The Pátio Morro Grande is 65% complete. Over 850 tons of metal structures have been installed. These support the maintenance and parking areas. More than 8700 meters of permanent track have been laid.

Once completed the Linha Uni concessionaire will operate the line for 19 years. The goal is to open the first eight stations by October 2026. The entire line should be completed by October 2027.

Construção do Pátio Morro Grande represents progress. It demonstrates efficiency and innovation. It is set to be a vital component of São Paulo’s metro system.
