The story of Comunidade S\u00e3o Francisco de Assis extends back to 1968. It was then that Frei Constantino and a group of dedicated individuals founded a community. Dolores Marques and Maria Jos\u00e9 de Souza were among them. Early meetings occurred in a donated house. This humble beginning nurtured the seeds of faith.

Over time the Comunidade S\u00e3o Francisco de Assis grew. People stepped forward to aid in spreading the Gospel. Zelita coordinated the community for many years. Her leadership fostered a strong sense of belonging.

In 1994, under Padre Marcilio’s guidance, the need for a larger space arose. A campaign was launched to acquire land. The current location on Avenida Cruzeiro do Sul was purchased. The vision was a chapel dedicated to S\u00e3o Francisco de Assis. On December 20, 2004, the cornerstone was laid. This marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Years later, improvements were made. During Padre Heriberto’s administration, the interior and exterior were renovated. This work aimed to prepare the church for the entronement of the Blessed Sacrament. On July 16, the altar was blessed and the Holy Sacrament was placed inside.

Today celebrations are held on the first and third Saturdays at 5 PM. The Comunidade S\u00e3o Francisco de Assis opens its doors every day. From Monday to Saturday, it welcomes visitors between 8 AM and 10 AM.
