Feel the ancient curse awaken. You stand before Cobra’s Curse a thrilling roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. This isn’t just a ride it’s a journey into a fictional story. The Snake King Venymyss once ruled. He was praised then corrupted by power. His subjects rebelled destroying his statue his source of power. Enraged he cursed anyone who dared rebuild it.

Cobra’s Curse opened in 2016. It replaced King Tut’s Tomb. It’s a steel spinning coaster from Mack Rides. The ride features a unique elevator lift. It was the park’s first new ride since Falcon’s Fury in 2014. The coaster’s track is 2100 feet long. It reaches a height of 70 feet. It has a top speed of 40 mph.

The story unfolds in the queue. You’ll see the Dig Team Living Quarters. There are educational displays about snakes. You’ll even enter a chamber with live snakes including a Gaboon viper and a Jameson’s mamba. Projection mapping brings the Snake King’s story to life. You’ll see three different shows. The coaster’s 80-foot-tall snake statue depicts King Venymyss.

The ride itself is a whirlwind. The train ascends the lift hill. You get close to King Venymyss’s imposing statue. Then it’s a thrilling 70-foot drop. The trains can lock and rotate in three stages forward backward and free spin. The spin depends on your weight. You’ll spin freely during some drops. The ride even goes under the Serengeti Railway.
