In 1973, amidst the bustling landscape of Kwai Chung, the CNEC Christian College opened its doors. This wasn’t just another school. CNEC Christian College was founded on the principles of “Faithfulness, Righteousness, Integrity, Sincerity,” a motto woven into the very fabric of the institution. Located on Lei Pui Street in Shek Lei, the college quickly became a beacon of learning and faith. The campus itself is a testament to its growth and development. Spanning an impressive 100,000 square feet, CNEC Christian College boasts three main teaching blocks: Hoi Tak Complex, Hau Ching Complex, and Tak Shing Hall. A more recent addition stands proudly beside the Hoi Tak Complex, a testament to the college’s commitment to expanding its educational horizons. Picture students rushing between classes, the sounds of their laughter echoing through the covered playground and the two basketball courts, each equipped with nine basketball nets. Imagine the thrill of competition on the two volleyball courts and the quiet contemplation in the two memorial gardens. Visualize athletes sprinting down the six-lane running track, pushing their limits with every stride. And after a rigorous workout, students can head to the renovated gym on the ground floor. Even the outdoor sports ground received a much-needed renovation during the 2021 academic year. CNEC Christian College isn’t just about academics and athletics. It’s a place where students can explore their passions. The Quiz Team, a source of pride and numerous awards, has been a dominant force in Hong Kong quiz competitions since the 1980s. Their annual dinner, held in August, is a grand affair, attended by current members, teachers, and distinguished alumni. The Student Council, established in the early 1990s, acts as a bridge between students and the school administration. They organize events like the Singing Contest and the Variety Show, providing a platform for students to showcase their talents. CNEC Christian College has a history of academic excellence, particularly in mathematics and chemistry. For years, they achieved a remarkable 100% credit rate in Advanced Level Pure Mathematics. In 2007, they outperformed even Queen’s College in both the distinction and credit rates for Pure Mathematics. The 2019-2020 anti-extradition bill movement saw students of CNEC Christian College actively participating in protests, demonstrating their commitment to social justice. From distributing flyers and wearing black masks to organizing human chains and participating in peaceful demonstrations, these students made their voices heard. CNEC Christian College stands as a testament to the power of education and faith. It’s more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a vibrant community, a place where students grow, learn, and make their mark on the world.
