Gazing at Cholupický potok, can you hear the whispers of its journey? This unassuming stream, flowing between Cholupice and Modřany, holds a story as winding as its own path. Cholupický potok meanders through the landscape, a modest waterway just under 4 kilometers long. Its source lies near the western edge of Cholupice, close to Točná Airport, at an elevation of 308 meters. From there, it carves a northerly path, a silver thread through a verdant valley. Near Na Beránku, Cholupický potok takes a westward turn, tracing the valley between Modřany and Komořany. As it nears the Vltava River, it encounters Komořanská street and then the railway line 210, which connects Prague and Vrané nad Vltavou. Finally, Cholupický potok merges with the Vltava River within the protected natural area of Komořanské and Modřanské tůně. Its confluence sits opposite the point where the Berounka River joins the Vltava, near the remnants of the old Modřany sugar factory and the now-closed Praha-Modřany railway station. Cholupický potok’s journey ends at a humble 190 meters above sea level. This tranquil stream has witnessed the changing landscape of Prague, flowing from the heights near the airport to the bustling confluence of two major rivers. It’s a testament to the interconnectedness of nature, a reminder that even the smallest streams play a vital role in shaping the world around us.
