The church’s story echoes the story of the neighborhood itself. Rozzol Melara was born from a large urban planning project. The area grew around a massive housing complex, affectionately nicknamed “The Quadrilateral”. As more buildings sprang up, the community needed a spiritual center. Initially, a small chapel within The Quadrilateral served this purpose. The faithful gathered in this humble space, nurtured by a shared sense of belonging. But the burgeoning population required a more permanent home. Thus began the journey to build Chiesa di San Luca Evangelista. Architects Carlo and Luciano Celli, along with Dario Tognon, envisioned a church that would embody both strength and grace. The church opened its doors on October 5, 1986. Bishop Lorenzo Bellomi blessed the newly completed Chiesa di San Luca Evangelista. Years later, on December 13, 2000, Bishop Eugenio Ravignani consecrated the altar. This act solidified the church’s sacred purpose. Officially established as a parish on September 1, 1983, Chiesa di San Luca Evangelista drew its territory from the parishes of SS.ma Trinità di Cattinara and S. Pasquale Baylon. It began its independent operations on September 15, 1985, and gained civil recognition shortly after on November 15, 1986. Chiesa di San Luca Evangelista has become more than just a place of worship. It is a community hub, a gathering place for people from near and far.
