Chevy Chase View’s origins date back to April 18, 1910. A plat was recorded then. Real estate developer Claude Livingstone designed the community in 1909. His design remains largely the same with minor street changes.
In 1993, the Montgomery County Council allowed residents to vote on incorporation. Residents favored it in a September 21, 1993, referendum. The council certified the results. This made it effective on October 28, 1993.
Chevy Chase View is in southern Montgomery County. Kensington borders it to the north. South Kensington surrounds it on all other sides. It lies 2 miles north of the Chevy Chase cluster of communities. The town’s area is 0.27 square miles. It is all land. Connecticut Avenue bisects the town. The Capital Beltway passes 1 mile to the south.
