“Keep on along the trail ahead” echoes in my mind. This is how you will discover the story of Cheung Ngam Teng. Cheung Ngam Teng is more than just a peak. It is a place steeped in natural beauty and coastal secrets.

Our journey to Cheung Ngam Teng begins. The trail descends along the ridge. It is narrow and covered in loose gravel. Do not worry though because it is not too difficult.

Down at the junction on a small open flatland, we take the right fork. Ribbons mark the path for us. This leads down toward Cheung Ngam Wan. Be careful as the latter leg turns steep.

Along the way, offshore cliffs reveal themselves below Cheung Ngam Teng. It might seem quiet along the coast. That is part of its charm. After the downhill, we cross a brook. Then we follow the left path uphill. This part is rugged and steep. A little clambering is needed.

Up to the top of the ridge, we take the left path. This leads us to the top of Cheung Ngam Teng. Passing Cheung Ngam Teng, we head down the trail. We pass through a smooth grassy section. It gently descends along the hillside.

From here, Conic Island off Tsang Pang Kok Teng can be seen ahead. Following the path down along the ridge, we finally reach the cape’s end. This place is peaceful. It seems to be an uninhabited place, like the ends of the Earth.

Now, we retrace our steps to Cheung Ngam Teng. After descending from Cheung Ngam Teng, we soon reach a junction. On a small flatland, we take the left path down to Long Ke Tsai. The side path becomes slightly steep. Down at the beach, there is a path ahead. It is at the opposite rocky slope near a stream. Ribbons mark the upper shrubbery.

We clamber up the rocky slope. Then, we join a narrow wooded path. It skirts along the offshore hillside. Look back to see the scenic view of the beach. In the distance, Tsang Pang Kok sits majestically. As we approach Long Ke Wan, take the left rocky path. It is very steep. It leads straight down to the beach.

Approaching the right side along the beach, we join MacLehose Trail in the woods. Then follow it to the east dam of High Island reservoir.

From Tai Yue Ngam Teng, the four famous white sand beaches can be seen. Also, Sharp Peak in Sai Kung presents an unique view. Tsang Pang Kok resembles a huge whale. Its headland appears as the end of the Earth. Cheung Ngam Teng offers a remarkable experience.

Remember to equip yourself well before venturing out to Cheung Ngam Teng. The trail is slightly long and rugged in part. There are fewer shade trees along the way. Enjoy the journey and the views. Cheung Ngam Teng awaits with its beauty and tranquility.
