Did the aroma of freshly baked bread ever lead you to an unexpected adventure? At Cherry Hill Park, that’s exactly what happened for countless travelers. Cherry Hill Park isn’t just a campground. It’s a gateway to Washington D.C. and a place with a rich, century-long history. In 1921, Jay and Rose Gurevich started a poultry farm and general store near where Cherry Hill Park now stands. Rose’s kind heart led her to offer weary travelers a place to camp behind the store. This simple act of hospitality marked the beginning of Cherry Hill Park’s journey. After World War II, the site transformed into Cherry Hill Trailer Park, providing housing for GIs and young families. The post-war travel boom saw another shift. The Gurevich family recognized the growing need for accommodations near the burgeoning capital. They renamed the business Cherry Hill Campcity, catering to tourists exploring the nation’s capital. The park’s evolution continued in the 1980s under the leadership of Norman and Joan Gurevich. They envisioned a premium campground experience. The result? Cherry Hill Park as we know it today, complete with modern amenities and space for even the largest RVs. Located in College Park, Maryland, Cherry Hill Park is a short drive from Washington, D.C. The park provides easy access to the city with bus service to the Metro and organized sightseeing tours. Visitors can enjoy a range of accommodations, from tent and RV sites to cozy log cabins, yurts, and glamping pods. Amenities abound, with mini golf, fishing, golf cart rentals, a hot tub, a sauna, and an on-site cafe to enhance your stay. Cherry Hill Park’s excellence hasn’t gone unnoticed. USA Today named it one of the ten best urban campgrounds in 2016. Thrillist also included it in their list of “12 Tranquil Camping Sites in the DC Area.” So, the next time you’re planning a trip to Washington D.C., consider staying at Cherry Hill Park. It’s more than just a campground. It’s a place where history, hospitality, and adventure come together.
