The story of Chácara Flora began in May 1914. Louis Romero Sanson was the driving force behind its creation. He was an engineer and civil engineer. Sanson aimed to connect São Paulo and Santo Amaro with a highway. Santo Amaro was annexed to the capital in 1935. This highway later became Avenida Washington Luís.

Chácara Flora is known for its extensive green spaces. It offers a quality of life above the average for São Paulo. It shares this distinction with Vila Olímpia and Pinheiros.

Back in 1886, a train line crossed through this area. It ran from Rua São Joaquim to Santo Amaro. The journey took about one and a half hours. The train also passed through areas now known as Aeroporto and Brooklin Paulista. Later, a tram connected Praça João Mendes to Santo Amaro. Trams were discontinued in May 1968. The S/A highway tollbooth was once located here. It marked the end of the highway until 1939.

Chácara Flora houses a preserved fragment of the Mata Atlântica. This is an important tropical forest. The area features araucarias, pinus, and eucalyptus trees. This vegetation supports diverse fauna. You can spot birds and insects. Common species include the bem-te-vi and sabiá-laranjeira. Mammals include bats and opossums.

The neighborhood maintains 60% of its area covered by trees. It has the largest mapped vegetation area in the city.

Chácara Flora is a gated community. It has around 170 mansions. The area maintains a preserved reserve of the Mata Atlântica. Google Street View does not provide images of the area. The guardhouse on Rua Visconde de Porto Seguro is the only available image.
