Seventy-six years strong, the Centro Espírita Nosso Lar Casas André Luiz stands as a beacon of hope. It has served the community since its inception in 1949. Right here, in the heart of São Paulo, this institution has a remarkable history. It all began with João Castardelli, a young man with a profound spiritual calling. At the tender age of 12, João was already penning spiritualist texts. He contributed to the Círculo Esotérico da Comunhão do Pensamento. Sadly, illness confined him to his home at 18. Undeterred, his family embraced spiritualist studies, with João leading the gatherings.

Even after João’s passing, the meetings persisted at the Centro Espírita Nosso Lar Casas André Luiz. They grew in popularity, prompting João’s father, Paulo Castardelli, to formally establish the center in 1949. This fulfilled João’s dream. The initial focus was on orphaned children. But a spiritual message redirected their efforts towards children with intellectual disabilities. This led to the inauguration of Casa da Criança André Luiz in Guarulhos in 1958. This expanded their reach to assist children with these disabilities. Four years later, the center was renamed Centro Espírita Nosso Lar Casas André Luiz. To meet the increasing demand, Casa II, now the Long Term Care Unit, was built in Guarulhos.

The Centro Espírita Nosso Lar Casas André Luiz is not just a center for spiritualism. It is a vibrant hub of social work. It cares for over 1,700 patients. The center’s philanthropic nature guides its free services for those with disabilities. It has remained true to its founding principles. The center operates without any profit motive. It embodies the spirit of selfless service. From its humble beginnings in a family home to its current status, the Centro Espírita Nosso Lar Casas André Luiz has consistently served those in need. The center’s history is a testament to the power of spiritual guidance and dedication. It stands as a tribute to João Castardelli’s vision. The Centro Espírita Nosso Lar Casas André Luiz continues to make a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals. It serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and community service.
