Ever wondered about a carousel older than your grandparents? Centreville Amusement Park holds one.

Centreville isn’t just another amusement park. It’s a Toronto Island treasure. Opened in 1967 it boasts a charming turn-of-the-century village theme. This isn’t just about rides it’s about history.

Picture this: A 1907 Dentzel Carousel. One of only 150 still running. Its 52 hand-carved animals aren’t just horses. You’ll find cats pigs even an ostrich. This carousel almost left Toronto in 2017. Financial troubles threatened to ship it to Indiana. Thankfully it stayed. It’s a true Toronto icon.

Centreville’s history is intertwined with the Toronto Islands’ transformation. It replaced older parks. It adapted to challenges. The 2017 floods caused major damage. Eight million dollars in revenue lost. Repairs cost six million. Yet Centreville bounced back. A testament to its enduring appeal.

The miniature railway winds through the park. It’s a classic addition. The park expanded over the years. Adding rides one or two each year. It’s a testament to its evolution. A reflection of Toronto’s own growth. There’s a Ferris wheel a log flume even a haunted barrel works.

Centreville also includes Far Enough Farm. Established in 1959. Animals roam freely there. Goats pigs chickens. Even emus and peafowl. The farm faced closure after the 2017 floods. Centreville saved it. Preserving a piece of Toronto’s agricultural past.

Beasley Amusements operates Centreville. They’ve been running it since 1967. They even bought a ferry the Dartmouth III. It was meant to ease transport. Ultimately it wasn’t needed.

Centreville is more than rides and animals. It’s a story of resilience. A reflection of Toronto’s spirit. It’s a place where history and fun collide. A place where families create memories. A place worth exploring.
