How about a story about a church that shares its space? Central Presbyterian Church does just that. It stands in the heart of downtown Vancouver. This church opens its doors to other Christian ministries. It also welcomes non-profit community groups.
Central Presbyterian Church’s story stretches back to the 1890s. It moved to this Thurlow Street location after 1970. It sold its previous property to St. Paul’s Hospital. The hospital needed space to expand.
Now Central Presbyterian Church finds itself in a unique position. In 2014, it partnered with a Vancouver developer. They repurposed the site. This created condominiums, worship space and housing units.
Look up now. Above the church is a 22-story residential tower. The Central Presbyterian Church sits at its base. The first three floors above the church offer 45 non-market rental units. These are for seniors. Above them, the tower holds 168 market rental units.
Central Presbyterian Church is serious about sharing its space. They call it stewardship of space. They believe God blessed them with a modern facility. So, they share it with other Christian churches. First Baptist, Galilee Presbyterian and Christ Alive churches hold services here. The Way Church also maintains office space in this building. Central Presbyterian Church even hosts the YMCA’s childcare program. Alcoholics Anonymous also meets here.

You are welcome to join Central Presbyterian Church for worship. Services take place on Sundays. They run from 10:15 to 11:30 AM. Afterwards, there is fellowship. Mid-week prayer happens on Wednesdays. It goes from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. There is also a Bible study. It explores the Biblical narrative.
