The school was made possible by a donation from Mong Min Wai, the founder of Shun Hing Group. He donated the school in memory of his late mother Wong Far Yok. This is why the school bears her name.
For a short time, the New Territories Association Retraining Centre temporarily used the school to run junior secondary classes. This happened until their campus in Leung King Estate was completed.
Initially, C.C.C. Mong Wong Far Yok Memorial Primary School operated as a half-day school. In 2005, the afternoon school merged with the morning school. Fung Shou Sang was the first principal of both the morning and afternoon schools. He served from 1989 to 1999. He also served as principal of C.C.C. Heep Woh College. In 2018, Fung Shou Sang passed away.
