What if faith could build a cathedral, brick by brick, heart by heart? Here at the Cathedral of Faith in Tampa, that’s precisely what happened. Bishop James Howell and his wife, Marzetta, envisioned a spiritual sanctuary in 1988. Their dream materialized into this vibrant hub. The Cathedral of Faith isn’t just a building. It is a testament to their dedication and the unwavering belief of its 750 active members. The church embraces a multicultural, interracial, and non-denominational congregation. Three elders and fifteen ministers support Bishop Howell, a Morehouse College and Interdenominational Theological Center alumnus, and Pastor Marzetta, who traded her career in management and marketing for full-time ministry in 1995. The congregation is uniquely organized into three tribes: Benjamin, Ephraim, and Judah. This structure reflects their commitment to a literal interpretation of scripture. The church’s motto, “Perfecting our Purpose in the Kingdom,” resonates in every service and ministry. From Sunday catechism and morning worship to Wednesday youth explosions and Friday’s “Happy Hour of Power”, there’s a place for everyone at the Cathedral of Faith. Even daily prayer services are held at noon for those seeking a moment of reflection. Beyond the spiritual nourishment, the Cathedral of Faith is deeply woven into the fabric of the community. They offer an array of programs. There’s an arts and drama program, Christian education, and support groups like Oneness couples, Kingdom Men, Straight up for Christ Girls, Women of Worth, and Women of Wisdom, Faith and Integrity. They also offer an “Overcomers” substance abuse program, youth and young men’s ministries, family-life and seniors ministry, and even a prison ministry. The Cathedral of Faith demonstrates that faith isn’t confined to the walls of a church. It extends outwards, touching lives and making a difference in Tampa.
