Slipping through time, we find ourselves at Cape Collinson Battery Searchlight. This isn’t just a scenic viewpoint. It’s a ghost of war, whispering stories of a tumultuous past. Cape Collinson Battery Searchlight was built in 1938. Its purpose was to defend Hong Kong Island’s eastern coast during World War II. Manned by the 36th Coast Battery and the 8th Coast Regiment Royal Artillery, this site was a vital defense point. However, its active service was short-lived. In 1941, the battery was destroyed by its own crew and the regiment relocated to Stanley. Today, the Cape Collinson Battery Searchlight stands in ruins. The remnants offer a glimpse into the urgency and fear of war. Nature has begun to reclaim the site. Yet, the remaining structures still speak volumes about their former importance. It’s a popular spot for hikers and photographers, drawn to the blend of history and natural beauty. The ruins of Cape Collinson Battery Searchlight are more than just crumbling walls. They are a testament to a pivotal moment in Hong Kong’s history. They represent a time of conflict and resilience.
