Feel the rush. Feel the spray of Calico River Rapids. Imagine yourself hurtling down the churning waters. This isn’t just any river ride. It’s a journey through Knott’s Berry Farm’s thrilling Ghost Town.
Calico River Rapids isn’t just a water ride. It’s a story. It’s a transformation. Once called Bigfoot Rapids this attraction opened in 1988. It was a different experience back then. There were trees. But minimal theming.
In 2019 everything changed. Knott’s Berry Farm decided to revamp the old ride. They added animatronics. They created a whole new western theme. The result? Calico River Rapids. A family-friendly adventure. A wild west river journey.
The ride takes you on a journey through uncharted territory. You’ll encounter roaring rapids and all sorts of indigenous wildlife. The rafts hold six passengers. It’s a whirlwind of twists turns and splashes.
The animatronics bring the story to life. They’re surprisingly realistic. Even the snake looks lifelike. Although it is quite small. But it does add to the adventure.
The ride’s finale is spectacular. You’ll enter a cave filled with fog. And there he is. Bigfoot. The ride’s largest animatronic figure. Unfortunately he doesn’t move much. But the sight is still impressive.
Calico River Rapids offers more than just thrills. It’s an immersive experience. A trip back in time. A family adventure. It’s a testament to Knott’s commitment to themed entertainment. It’s definitely one of the best family rides at the park. It’s a must-do for any visitor. So get ready for a wild wet and wonderfully themed adventure. Hold on tight. Your Calico River Rapids journey is about to begin.
