“Remember the name Frič.” That name echoes through the lost history of Malá. Malá also known as Farkáň once stood in Prague’s Radlice district. This forgotten farmstead held stories of agriculture tragedy and resilience.

Let’s journey back. Imagine the year is 1850. Malá is a bustling farm. A home a barn a gateway. The Frič family owns it. They work the land and live a peaceful life.

Time jumps to February 14 1945. A dark day for Prague. An air raid strikes. Malá is nearly destroyed. The owner František Frič dies at 79. A monument now stands nearby to remember this event.

Can you picture the scene after the bombing? Rubble smoke grief everywhere. The Frič family’s livelihood gone. Yet their story doesn’t end there.

After World War II agriculture production at Malá stopped around 1950. The farmstead changed. It became a mushroom growing facility. Later it housed garages for a transport company.

Imagine workers tending to mushrooms. Consider trucks rumbling where cows once grazed. Malá adapted but its agricultural heart faded.

The years passed and Malá declined. Between 2006 and 2007 Malá vanished completely. Today nothing remains of the farm.

But nature remembers. A mighty red oak tree stands near where Malá stood. In 2014 it was estimated to be 140 years old. This oak may have witnessed the farm’s entire existence.

Think about that oak. It sprouted around the time Malá was thriving. It survived the bombing and the changing times. It silently guards the memory of the lost farmstead.

Malá may be gone but not forgotten. Its story reminds us of Prague’s hidden layers. It speaks of resilience loss and the enduring power of nature. Remember the name Malá. Remember the name Frič. Their story is a piece of Prague’s past.
