In 1978 a new church was planned in Burke Virginia. This was the beginning of Burke Presbyterian Church. The National Capital Presbytery announced its intention to build it. An advertisement even appeared in the local newspaper the Burke Herald. It invited people to a vesper gathering.

The church’s partnership with Kibwezi Bethel Church in Kenya supports orphans and vocational training. Homestretch an organization helping homeless families receives weekly meals. The church also sponsors Snacks and Backpacks a tutoring club. They support the Presbytery’s Mission Ministry and various social justice initiatives. They also support affordable housing developments.
