Founded in 1986 Broughton Anglican College stands proudly. It’s an independent Anglican school. It serves the Macarthur community. The college began as an outreach ministry of Campbelltown Anglican Church. Its aim was to provide secondary education. This education was based on Anglican principles. The students came from St Peter’s Anglican Primary School.
Broughton Anglican College quickly grew. In 1997 a Junior School was added. A Preparatory School followed in 1998. The school’s motto is Life Through Christ. This reflects its strong Christian values. These values are integrated throughout the curriculum. They are also evident in co-curricular activities.
The college’s history is rich. It’s connected to the early 1800s. Reverend Thomas Reddall established St Peter’s Primary School. This was on the Church site. Reddall had a vision for independent schools. Broughton Anglican College continued his dream. It was named after Bishop William Grant Broughton. He was the first Bishop of Australia and Sydney.
The college started with sixty Year 7 students. It sits on 27 hectares of land. This land was donated for the college’s establishment. The land was originally promised to the Taber family by Lachlan Macquarie in 1835. Today Broughton Anglican College is one of the leading independent schools in the Macarthur region. It continues to flourish. It provides quality Christian education. The college boasts extensive modern facilities. These include a large library. It also houses a senior campus with lecture rooms. There are also a function centre a cafeteria and specialized studios. The college offers a wide range of sports and extracurricular activities. It provides a holistic education.
