Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk through an aircraft hangar? Well, here at Bromma Blocks, you can experience just that. The Bromma Blocks shopping center is built from a collection of massive hangars that once belonged to Bromma Airport, one of the largest airports in Sweden. Construction began in 1936. These hangars housed airplanes for decades, until the airport was relocated in 1966. The hangars, which were considered to be the biggest in Northern Europe, were left abandoned until a unique solution was sought. As it was not possible to tear down the structures due to strict preservation laws, the city decided to transform them into a shopping mall, a brilliant solution! Today, these grand structures are home to a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and boutiques. The high ceilings and open spaces create a unique atmosphere, and the hangar’s original features, like the giant metal gates, remain visible and remind every customer of this special place. So take a stroll through Bromma Blocks and discover the stories this unique shopping center holds.
