Founded in 1901 by the Brigidine Sisters Brigidine College Randwick stands proudly. It’s a testament to their commitment to education. The Sisters arrived from Ireland. Their motto Fortiter et Suaviter With Strength and Gentleness guided them. This motto is still embraced today. The college initially started with just fifteen students. It was housed in a rented house Strathallen. A year later Aeolia and its land were purchased. New school and convent buildings were constructed. Initially Brigidine Randwick was a large establishment. It housed a provincialate a novitiate and a K-12 boarding school for girls. Boys attended as day students in the lower primary years. Today Brigidine College is a thriving secondary day school exclusively for girls. It operates within the original buildings and later additions. The college boasts a rich history of academic excellence. In 2007 Brigidine College Randwick achieved outstanding HSC results. It ranked 30th in the state for English. One hundred percent of students in Advanced English Extension 1 and Extension 2 were placed in the top two bands. Half of the Visual Arts students were nominated for ARTexpress. This art exhibition showcases Higher School Certificate Visual Arts student works. Many notable alumnae have emerged from Brigidine College Randwick. They include Dr Angelica Merlot a renowned scientist Dr Ella Stack the first Lord Mayor of Darwin and Jessica Thornton a track and field sprinter who competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
