The cornerstone. That’s where it all began for Bridlewood Presbyterian Church. Right here on Warden Avenue in Scarborough. This wasn’t always a grand sanctuary.
Bridlewood Presbyterian Church wasn’t instantly built. It started modestly. In 1968 it held its first services in a high school. Sir John A Macdonald Collegiate to be exact. It was a temporary arrangement while their permanent home took shape. That home eventually materialized on donated land. Robert McClintock a local developer gave the land. He wanted an evangelical church built there. He made it a condition of his donation.
Then came the construction. The church building at 2501 Warden Avenue opened in 1973. The congregation flourished. Growth led to expansion. By 1983 a larger sanctuary was added. There were new offices a nursery and a full kitchen. The improvements made it a welcoming space for all ages.
The sanctuary received another upgrade in 2003. A state-of-the-art sound and video system was installed. A larger stage improved presentations and performances. The enhancements greatly improved the worship experience.
Bridlewood Presbyterian Church has been led by a succession of ministers. A Donald MacLeod Edward McKinlay and Daniel MacKinnon each shaped the church’s identity. Their legacies are woven into the fabric of this congregation.
Today Bridlewood Presbyterian Church stands as a testament to faith community and perseverance. It continues to serve its community. Its doors remain open. It welcomes all those seeking spiritual guidance and fellowship. Its story is one of growth adaptability and enduring devotion. It’s a place of worship a place of community.
