“Multicultural church would never work.” Can you imagine hearing that? That was the discouraging message Pastor David Anderson received before founding Bridgeway Community Church.
Now standing before Bridgeway Community Church, you’re seeing a testament to his unwavering vision. It is a vision where people from all walks of life feel welcome. Bridgeway Community Church has been serving the community since 1992. In 2022, Bridgeway Community Church celebrated 30 years of ministry.
Pastor Anderson’s journey started with a personal transformation. He surrendered to Jesus Christ in Prince George’s County Maryland. This led him to pursue a multicultural church. Bridgeway is a diverse community where everyone is challenged to take their next steps of faith in Jesus Christ. It hopes that everyone finds a community of friends from different backgrounds. Also it hopes everyone finds a place to use their gifts in service to the Church.
Bridgeway Community Church has campuses in Columbia and Owings Mills/Reisterstown. The church also has numerous ministries and life groups. There is surely a place for everyone. The church wants to know your story and welcomes you into its diverse community.
Bridgeway offers several ways to connect. “Bridgeway in 5” offers insights into the church. Partnership Download helps people to dive deeper into who they are. The church also offers “Plus 1” activities where everyone finds a place to serve or join a Life Group.
Bridgeway leadership is committed to maintaining the vision and intentional pursuit of multicultural ministry. The church sends a weekly newsletter every Sunday afternoon. This includes a word from key leaders and information on upcoming events. Bridgeway also serves free groceries at both of its campuses throughout the month.
Bridgeway Christian Church was founded in 1996 when three churches in the Sacramento region realized that they were all drawing people from the Roseville area. About twenty families from Arcade Church in Sacramento, Lakeside Church in Folsom, and Sun River Church in Rancho Cordova served as the core group called to plant Bridgeway. In 1998, Lance Hahn received the call of the Lord to become the Senior Pastor, and immediately, Bridgeway began to grow.
Every group of people that comes together has its own culture. This is a mix of people and experiences and personalities that seem to take on a life of their own. Bridgeway believes in complete authenticity. You are encouraged to come to Bridgeway just as you are. The congregation is made up of people from vastly different backgrounds. They gather together each week to explore God’s word and grow in Christ with one another.
Bridgeway stands as a beacon of hope. It is a place where diversity is celebrated. This is a testament to the power of faith and community. Remember Pastor Anderson’s story. Remember the vision of a multicultural church that thrives against all odds. Bridgeway Community Church welcomes you to be a part of that story.
