A beacon of faith shines. It radiates from the BreakThrough Church of God on East 41st Avenue. It is a Pentecostal church in Vancouver. This church isn’t just a building. It’s a community. For over 20 years, about 150 members have walked together in Christ every Sunday.
BreakThrough Church of God is easy to reach. You can find it at the corner of Nanaimo Street and East 41st Avenue. That’s two blocks east of Knight Street.
Driving? There is free on-street parking on Nanaimo Street. Remember to be considerate of the narrow streets. Do not block any driveways.
Prefer transit? Translink’s 41 UBC/Crown bus stops right in front of the church. The R4 41st Avenue RapidBus to UBC/Joyce stops one block east at Clarendon St. These lines connect to the Oakridge Canada Line Station and the Joyce Expo Line Station.
The BreakThrough Church of God offers multiple services. Sunday mornings have services at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. There are also Sunday evening services at 6:00 pm.
A typical Sunday service at BreakThrough Church of God looks like this. Praise and worship start at 10:00. Then prayer and tithes follow at 10:30. A welcome and announcements are at 10:40. The sermon begins at 10:45. More praise and worship happens at 11:20. Finally dismissal at 11:30.
Pastor Jeff Banguis leads the Sunday services. He is known for his high-energy praise. He also delivers powerful sermons.
BreakThrough Church of God also has small groups. They meet throughout the Lower Mainland. These groups provide connection. They also offer support.
Every last Sunday of the month, the BreakThrough Church of God hosts a special event. It is a free meal after the 10:00 am worship service. It is a great opportunity to invite someone new. Enjoy food and fellowship.
The BreakThrough Church of God is not just about Sundays. They have activities throughout the week. Saturday nights, there is drop-in basketball in Richmond. It is open to all ages and skill levels. It takes place at Richmond Christian School on Woodwards Rd. The fun lasts from 8:00 to 10:00 PM.
For the younger members, the BreakThrough Church of God offers virtual classes. They have carefully crafted lesson plans. There are interactive games and digital resources. These connect students with the Word throughout the week. There are two in-person groups on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. One is for ages 6-12. The other is for ages 13-17.
