Was Bogumiła Noiszewska a beacon of hope during the dark days of World War II? This plaque commemorates a woman of extraordinary courage and compassion. Bogumiła Noiszewska was born Maria Ewa Noiszewska in 1885. She was a Polish sister. She belonged to the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Bogumiła Noiszewska was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1999. She was among 108 Polish martyrs of World War II. After completing her secondary education with honors, Bogumiła pursued medicine in St. Petersburg. She graduated in 1914. During World War I, she worked in military hospitals. She witnessed immense suffering. This experience led her to dedicate herself to serving the poor and sick.

In 1919, Bogumiła Noiszewska joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She took the name Maria Ewa of Divine Providence. In 1927, she took her perpetual vows. She then served as a doctor. She also worked as a teacher and educator. She worked in gymnasiums in Jazłowiec and Słonim.

During World War II, Sister Bogumiła helped those in need. She aided the starving. She supported families of prisoners. She also helped those who had been murdered. The monastery became a sanctuary. Bogumiła Noiszewska hid Jews there. On December 18, 1942, the Gestapo arrested her. The next day, she was executed. This happened on Pietralewicka Hill near Słonim. She was killed along with Father Adam Sztark and Sister Maria Marta. They were buried in a mass grave.

Bogumiła Noiszewska’s life reflected her belief. She thought holiness should be sought in every moment. It should be sought in every situation. Even in the face of Nazi terror, she chose compassion. She chose sacrifice. This Bogumiła Noiszewska Plaque is a reminder. It reminds us of her unwavering commitment to humanity. It stands as a testament to her faith. May her example inspire us. May it encourage us to act with courage and kindness. Even in the darkest of times.
