Bloubergrant High School opened its doors for the first time on Monday 12 January 2006. Imagine the scene. The building contractor was still rushing to put the final touches on the building. Despite the chaos the school officially opened on Wednesday 14 January 2006. Mr Cameron Dugmore the Western Cape Minister of Education and Mr Ebrahim Rasool the Premier of the Western Cape did the honors. Dignitaries from education and politics were present.
Premier Rasool was enthusiastic. He called Bloubergrant High a school of the new South Africa. He noted it was a school without baggage. It was neither a township school nor an ex-model C school. The diversity of learners was indicative of positive things.
Bloubergrant High School embraces diversity. The school has learners from all walks of life. They come from different races creeds and cultures. Many learners are from Africa and Asia. Being a relatively small school allows for small classes. Educators can give personal attention daily.

Bloubergrant High won the Eskom High Schools Debating competition for the third year in a row. A team also represented the Western Cape in Gauteng. They won the Provincial History Heritage Competition. The school’s U19 Boys soccer league team won. They also won the Plate final in Table Tennis. Lutho Mkaba a Grade 9 learner received a contract from Cape Town City FC. Shaydin Palm in Grade 8 is ranked fourth in South Africa in Judo. The school uses the hashtag LetsMakeTheirDreamAReality.
