Established in 1956 Blacktown Girls High School initially opened as a co-educational school. Blacktown High School served the growing community. However a change came. Government policy led to its split into two single-sex schools. By 1959 Blacktown Girls High School and its brother school Blacktown Boys High School were fully established.

Blacktown Girls High School stands proudly today. It’s a government-funded partially selective secondary day school. The school welcomes girls from Year 7 to Year 12. In 2018 around 750 students attended. Three percent identified as Indigenous Australians. Eighty-five percent came from non-English speaking backgrounds. This diversity enriches the school’s vibrant atmosphere.

Blacktown Girls High School has a strong focus on both academics and extracurricular activities. Four houses Oodgeroo Chisholm Reibey and Fraser represent prominent Australian women.
