Bedes Forest

Deep within the embrace of St Ives, Bedes Forest whispers secrets of growth and transformation. Bedes Forest isn’t just a collection of trees. It’s a living testament to community vision. Originally almost 5000sqm, Bedes Forest offered limited recreational opportunities due to its dense woodland. The council, recognizing the need for more open space, embarked on a project to expand Bedes Forest. By acquiring three adjacent properties in Stanley Street, they have nearly doubled the park’s size, making it almost 8000 square metres. This expansion transforms Bedes Forest into one of the largest parks in Ku-ring-gai. The community played a vital role in shaping the park’s future. Residents voiced their desires, requesting features like bike tracks, play equipment, and even a community garden. Two concept plans emerged from this feedback. “Picnics in Nature” envisions a children’s bike track, playground, outdoor gym, picnic area, and a wetland. “Play & Explore” proposes a half basketball court, table tennis, a community garden, a nature play area, and BBQ spots. Bedes Forest stands as a symbol of collaboration and vision. A place where nature’s tranquility meets the community’s aspirations.
