“Is it true that Banslättsskolan once closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak?” a young student whispered to her friend. Banslättsskolan, nestled in Tullinge, has seen its share of challenges. It strives to create a responsible learning environment. This environment is built on knowledge, safety, and positive relationships. Banslättsskolan encourages students to challenge themselves and others. This stimulates intellectual growth. It fosters a sense of joy and encourages exploration. In January 2021, the school faced an unprecedented disruption. A COVID-19 outbreak forced the school to close its doors for in-person learning. Two classes were initially sent home. The closure expanded after consultation with the Stockholm Public Health Agency. Eight individuals tested positive for COVID-19. Many students stayed home with cold-like symptoms. Numerous families awaited test results. The school transitioned to distance learning during the closure. This was a challenging time for students, teachers, and families alike. The school reopened on February 8th, 2021, after the situation improved. Banslättsskolan also underwent an expansion. This involved the installation of new plumbing systems. The expansion aimed to enhance the learning environment and accommodate the growing student population. The project involved collaboration with Botkyrka Municipality, Heving & Hägglund, and JSB-Rör. Banslättsskolan continues to serve the community. It provides a nurturing and stimulating educational experience for its students. It has open house events where prospective families can meet teachers and staff. They can also learn more about the school’s values and programs.
