“Looks like something out of a cartoon, doesn’t it?” Right before you stands the Bailout Folks Mural. It’s a vibrant splash of color on the side of a building that’s seen better days. You might even recognize the artistic style – it’s very reminiscent of those classic Looney Tunes cartoons. This mural, painted in 2012 by an artist named Simpson, was part of the Street Art Doping Festival. It’s funny how the word “Bailout” on the mural seems almost naive now, given everything that’s happened in the world since then. The contrast between the mural’s playful energy and the slightly run-down building behind it, especially compared to the shiny office block right next door, adds a whole other layer to its charm, don’t you think?
