Let’s step back in time to understand how this special church came to be. The building housing Bagarmossens kyrka was erected in 1954. A church locale was already planned on the second floor. An interesting detail is that a foundation formed in the early 1960s. Its sole purpose was to establish a church in Bagarmossen.
Through dedicated fundraising, dreams turned into reality in 2001. Architect Gōran Jansson designed the current church locale on the ground floor. Bishop Caroline Krook inaugurated it that same year. It marked a new chapter for the Bagarmossen community. It provided a dedicated space for worship.
Bagarmossens kyrka celebrated its tenth anniversary. The festivities lasted six days. The celebration included music, grilling, and activities for all ages. Bishop Caroline Krook also attended. She had originally consecrated the church.
Inside Bagarmossens kyrka, several items catch the eye. A vibrant triumphal crucifix crafted from wood stands out. Georg Ganmar created the crucifix. It features a regal Christ figure wearing a king’s crown. The baptismal font adds a modern touch. It is made from acid-treated iron and glass. To the right of the entrance stands a unique light bearer. It too is crafted from acid-treated iron. It is shaped like branches reaching upwards. An altarpiece by Linn Reinius completes the setting.
