Built between 1850 and 1854 Bachrovna stands as a testament to a bygone era. This remarkable villa in Kladno Czech Republic is more than just a building. It’s a living history lesson. Originally known as Panský dům or Gentleman’s House Bachrovna’s name evolved. It’s now linked to Gottfried Bacher a mine director. He had another summer villa in Nouzov near Unhošt. The Prague Ironworks Company purchased the house in 1860. They used it as a service villa for their directors. Bachrovna was expanded in 1887 with an extra floor and wing. The ground floor held apartments. Bacher’s family lived upstairs.

Imagine life inside Bachrovna during the tense times of 1889. A riot erupted after the Feast of Corpus Christi. Angry crowds attacked the town hall and shops. They then turned their rage towards Bachrovna. The mob ransacked and burned the villa. Sadly three children died in the chaos.
