“Valorizar cada vida.” These words encapsulate the mission of Asssociação Brasil SGI. It is an organization deeply rooted in promoting human development and constructing a culture of peace.

Founded in 1960, Asssociação Brasil SGI represents Soka Gakkai International SGI in Brazil. Daisaku Ikeda established this entity. He envisioned contributing to conscious actions that unlock human potential. The goal is to provide fullness to each individual. It also seeks to abolish discrimination.

The core objective of SGI is to spread Nichiren Daishonin’s humanistic philosophy. This philosophy emphasizes the complete happiness of all humanity. Asssociação Brasil SGI promotes activities that create human values. These values foster awareness of contributing to people’s well-being. These activities express SGI’s guidelines and Nichiren’s humanistic philosophy.

The mission of Asssociação Brasil SGI is clear. It aims to build a peaceful society based on humanism. This is achieved through conscious actions that develop the inherent potential of every human being. Asssociação Brasil SGI strives to leave future generations principles of sustainable human development. These principles are grounded in the humanistic ideals of a Culture of Peace.

Asssociação Brasil SGI believes in the dignity of life. It believes that a lasting peace is consolidated through the complete happiness of each individual. Experiencing this is a task to be pursued day by day. It is seen as arduous but also relentless.

Daisaku Ikeda’s influence extends beyond the founding of Asssociação Brasil SGI. Born in Tokyo in 1928, he became the third president of Soka Gakkai in 1960. Under his leadership, the organization flourished. It reached approximately thirteen million members in Japan. Ikeda supported Soka Gakkai’s efforts by establishing educational and cultural institutions. These include the Soka School System, the Min-On Concert Association, and the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum.

In October 1960, Ikeda embarked on his first overseas trip. He visited nine cities across three countries. His journey included São Paulo Brazil. In each city, he worked to structure the organization. In Brazil, he founded the Brazil District. This was the precursor to Asssociação Brasil SGI.

Ikeda’s commitment to peace led to numerous trips worldwide. He established Soka Gakkai International SGI in Guam in 1975. Today, SGI has a presence in approximately 200 countries and regions. It conducts activities that promote the well-being of society.

Since 1967, Ikeda actively proposed solutions to global issues. He addressed peace, disarmament, education, and the environment. He engaged in citizen diplomacy. He met with political and intellectual leaders worldwide.

Daisaku Ikeda’s contributions have been widely recognized. He received the World Award for Humanism from the Academy of Humanism of Macedonia in 2007. Several universities in Brazil have awarded him the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa.” He was also a corresponding member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Ikeda passed away in November 2023.

The clear appeal to young people is to bring about a true revolution. It is an inner revolution. It is a revolution in which everyone participates. The revolution must happen within peace. It must change the individual. Daisaku Ikeda believed world peace cannot be achieved solely by political treaties or economic cooperation. True and lasting peace can be realized only by establishing bonds of trust between people. These bonds must reach the depths of their lives.
