“What if artists could shape their own destinies?” That’s the question the founders of Foundry Gallery sought to answer in 1971. This artists’ cooperative provides a haven for creative expression. Here at Foundry Gallery, artists control their careers.

Foundry Gallery began with four students of DC painter Gene Davis. They shared space in Georgetown’s Duvall Foundry building. The gallery has moved a couple of times over the years. In 2015, Foundry Gallery found its home in Shaw. It is on 8th Street NW.

Foundry Gallery is more than just a place to view art. It is a non-profit gallery that is owned by artists. It supports DC’s up-and-coming artists. The gallery provides exposure to artists whose work is not yet widely known. Foundry offers an alternative gallery experience.
