In 2002, a group of artists dared to dream. They saw potential in the sturdy walls of the former Schnass bread factory here in Cologne-Dünnwald. They envisioned a place where creativity could flourish. This, my friends, is how the ART FACTORY Köln was born. Founded on the grounds of an old bread factory, the ART FACTORY Köln is a testament to the city’s industrial past and its vibrant artistic spirit. Today, it’s home to nearly 30 artists, each contributing their unique voice to this creative chorus. Step inside, and you’ll find studios buzzing with activity. Painters, graphic artists, photographers, and sculptors work side-by-side, their art reflecting a diverse range of styles and inspirations. While the atmosphere within these walls is always alive with creativity, there’s a special energy that takes hold during the annual Open Studios event organized by the Professional Association of Visual Artists Cologne. If you’re lucky enough to be here during this time, you’ll get to witness the ART FACTORY Köln in its full glory. Every studio becomes a portal into the artist’s world. You can chat with them, learn about their processes, and maybe even leave with a piece of original art that speaks to your soul.
