Opened in October 2019, the Ariake Gymnastics Centre, now known as the Ariake GYM-EX, has a fascinating story. Originally built for the 2020 Summer Olympics, the Ariake Gymnastics Centre hosted impressive gymnastic feats. It also served as the venue for the boccia events during the 2020 Summer Paralympics. It was designed with a future purpose. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government invested approximately 20.5 billion yen to construct this impressive facility, with a seating capacity of 12,000. After the Olympics concluded, the Ariake Gymnastics Centre underwent a transformation. It was redeveloped into an exhibition hall, aptly renamed the Ariake GYM-EX. This change reflects a commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering economic growth in the Tokyo area. In 2023, management of the Ariake GYM-EX was entrusted to Tokyo Big Sight, a renowned venue operator.
