Wasn’t it just yesterday that Antioch Baptist Church opened its doors? Antioch Baptist Church located in Fairfax Station Virginia has a history richer than you might think. Founded on January 8 1989 it began in a small Salvation Army chapel. Pastor John Q Gibbs and four others prayed for a whole year before starting the church. The first baptism was a momentous occasion held at Second Baptist Church in Falls Church. Kim Ryals Audrey Wheeler and Michael Johnson made a public declaration of faith. Sadly Pastor Gibbs passed away in 1995. His legacy however lives on.
Rev Dr Marshal L Ausberry stepped in as interim pastor. He was mentored by Pastor Gibbs. Under his leadership the church flourished. Missions programs expanded to help the homeless sick elderly and incarcerated. International missions in Haiti and other countries also became a focus. Antioch Baptist Church became a beacon of hope in Fairfax Station and surrounding communities. The church grew adding twenty-three acres and a new ministry center. Pastor Ausberry retired in 2022 after many years of dedicated service.
