Around 2000 homes stand here. This is Annedal a relatively new residential area in Stockholm. It’s nestled near the Bällstabäcken stream. Annedal’s name comes from a plot of land. In the 1880s Anna Augusta Wickman-Olsson owned it.
Annedal’s construction was a large urban development project. It mainly happened between 2008 and 2013. The area now boasts around 2500 homes. These include apartments and townhouses. Both rental and ownership options exist.
Interestingly Annedal’s streets have names inspired by Swedish children’s books. You’ll find Pippi Långstrump’s Gate for example. This reflects the playful spirit of the neighborhood’s design. The first residents moved in during February 2011. They settled into buildings by Svenska Bostäder.
Two buildings earned nominations for Årets Stockholmsbyggnad. Baltic 23 was nominated in 2012. Mattisborgen 2 received a nomination the following year. These buildings showcase the architectural ambition of Annedal.
Annedal 2012 was a housing fair. It took place from August 16th to 26th in 2012. High-ranking officials attended the opening. This included the Minister of Housing Stefan Attefall. The fair’s motto was Sustainable Housing for Tomorrow’s Demands.
Annedal offers good public transportation. It’s also near shopping areas. Sundbyberg’s center is a short walk away. It’s a transport hub. Bromma Blocks shopping center has around 80 stores. It’s another convenient option for Annedal residents. Annedal truly is a modern blend of history design and convenience.
