The scent of blossoms wafts through the air. You stand before a path. A path lined with fruit trees. These trees weren’t always there. Their origins lie in a time of celebration. A time marking thirty years of freedom and change. You wouldn’t guess that this Alej Svobody, this “Alley of Freedom”, was a humble field path just a few years ago. In 2019, the path was transformed. One hundred and thirty-two fruit trees, each a symbol of bountiful life and growth, were planted. They were to be a testament to the Velvet Revolution, a time when Prague and the Czech Republic shed the shackles of the past and stepped towards a brighter future. The trees are young, but they have already begun to weave their branches together. They form an arch above the path, a canopy of green and pink. You can imagine the people who planted these trees, their faces etched with pride and hope. You can imagine the children who will walk this path in the future, their laughter mingling with the rustling leaves. These trees, along with the path they border, are a reminder of the enduring spirit of freedom. The Alej Svobody is a testament to the power of change, a symbol of hope and vitality.
