Established in 1951 Alderwood United Church initially held services at Sir Adam Beck Public School. This wasn’t a permanent home though. The congregation yearned for their own space a place to truly call their own. Imagine the excitement the anticipation as plans for a new building took shape.
Alderwood United Church’s current location at 44 Delma Drive in Etobicoke became a reality in 1958. This wasn’t just bricks and mortar. St. Paul’s United Church another Etobicoke congregation with its roots going back to 1925 merged with Alderwood. St Paul’s formerly Presbyterian had served the Long Branch community for decades. The merger brought together two rich histories strengthening the Alderwood congregation. Services continued at the Delma Drive location.
Today Alderwood United Church stands as a vibrant testament to perseverance faith and community. It remains an active congregation a beacon of hope in Etobicoke.
