“Looking for JavaScript?” That’s the first thing you might see on Airlink Mongolia LL’s website. But Airlink Mongolia LL is more than just lines of code. It is a window to exploring Mongolia and beyond.
Airlink Mongolia LL is actually Aero Mongolia. It is one of Mongolia’s three national airlines. The main base is Chinggis Khaan International Airport. The head office is in Ulaanbaatar. It is on the fourth floor of Monnis Building.
Founded in 2001, Aero Mongolia operated its first domestic flight in 2003. By December 2024, the airline had over 200 employees. It operates scheduled flights to four international destinations. These include Seoul, Tokyo, Hohhot, and Hanoi. Aero Mongolia also provides charter flights. These go to Jeju, Yangyang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and Nha Trang.
Aero Mongolia has modernized its fleet over the years. It retired its Fokker 50 and Fokker 100 aircraft in 2018. Two Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft were retired in 2023. After merging with the Monnis Group in 2007, Aero Mongolia strengthened its management. It stabilized its financial position. It enhanced flight safety. These efforts have supported the airline’s growth. They also allowed expansion into new markets.
Currently, the Aero Mongolia fleet consists of Airbus A319 aircraft. There are two of them. One has 143 seats. The other has 141 seats.
Aero Mongolia has a frequent flyer program called SKYMILES. It allows passengers to collect 10 tugriks for each kilometer they fly. Savings are calculated based on flight distance. They are collected on the passenger’s bonus card. Passengers can use their savings whenever they want.
Like any airline, Aero Mongolia has faced challenges. In 2007, Mongolian aviation authorities suspended Aero Mongolia flights. This happened after the airline failed safety checks. Operations were also suspended in 2009 due to flight safety concerns. In 2012, an Aero Mongolia Fokker 50 aircraft skidded off the runway during takeoff.
Airlink Mongolia LL, or Aero Mongolia, connects Ulaanbaatar to the world. It represents a commitment to growth, safety, and customer service. As you stand here, consider the journeys that begin and end with Airlink Mongolia LL.
