From these modest roots, the Adelphi Bible Church community grew. By that fall, they had secured land at this very location, their future home. Construction began in the spring of 1961, a slow and painstaking process fueled by limited resources and unwavering faith. The Adelphi Bible Church has seen many shepherds guide its flock. Rev. James L. Lyons became pastor in January 1997. Under his leadership, the church launched several ministries, including a transportation ministry and a drug abuse ministry. Physical improvements included a new lighted sign, sanctuary enhancements, security and audio system upgrades, and renovations to the parsonage. In 2002, the church’s name was officially amended to Adelphi Bible Baptist Church, solidifying its identity.
