Abi 2017. A whirlwind of emotions, a culmination of years of hard work, a stepping stone to the future. Here in Stuttgart, the echoes of celebrations still linger. The air crackles with the memory of nervous anticipation and the sweet taste of relief. The Regierungsbezirk Stuttgart saw 19,658 students face the Abiturprüfung in 2017. Imagine the collective breath held as students tackled their exams, the frantic scribbling of pens against paper, the quiet concentration in exam halls across the city. 13,297 students in traditional Gymnasien and 6,361 in vocational Gymnasien embarked on this rite of passage. Abi 2017 wasn’t just about the final exams. It was about the journey. It was about the late-night study sessions fueled by coffee and the camaraderie forged in shared stress. It was about the teachers who guided and supported these students. 77,868 exam papers were graded by nearly 6,850 teachers. Each paper went through a rigorous three-step correction process. First, the student’s own teacher graded the work. Then, anonymized papers were sent to another school for a second grading. Finally, dedicated “Endkorrektoren” reviewed the assessments and assigned the final grade. The sheer logistics of this process were a feat in themselves. The Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart orchestrated this complex dance, ensuring fairness and accuracy. Abi 2017 marked a turning point for these students. The culmination of their secondary education. The key to unlocking university doors or embarking on vocational training. The final results were released in June, just a week before the oral exams. This added another layer of pressure.
