Established in 1974 Aberdeen Baptist Lui Ming Choi College stands proudly in Ap Lei Chau. Initially known as Pui Chun Secondary School it adopted its current name in 1987. This name change reflects the college’s connection to the Aberdeen Baptist Church and the Lui Ming Choi Foundation. The foundation’s generous contribution significantly aided the college’s development and expansion.

The college’s journey has been marked by several significant milestones. In 1979 it was renamed Aberdeen Baptist Secondary School. It transitioned to a government-aided institution in 1982. The 1980s saw further growth with an expansion project that included a new sports ground. By 1988 a new teaching block was completed. This marked a substantial improvement to the learning environment for students.

The 1990s brought about another significant transition. The college moved to a new campus on Lei Tung Estate Road in 1995. This relocation coincided with renovations and updated school uniforms. A new swimming pool was also added in 1997 adding another dimension to the college’s facilities. The college’s motto is Agathos & Aletheia meaning Be true and kind. This reflects the college’s commitment to character education.

The Aberdeen Baptist Lui Ming Choi College prides itself on its house system. Four houses Calvin Luther Moody and Spurgeon represent a vibrant aspect of school life. Friendly competition between these houses fosters camaraderie and school spirit. However two houses Schweitzer and Wesley were discontinued in the 1990s.

Over the years the college has celebrated many achievements. A musical production was staged in 2000 to mark its 25th anniversary. There have been many instances of student activism. Students have actively participated in social issues and political movements. In 2014 the student body took part in pro-democracy protests. This event reflected their involvement in broader societal concerns. The college’s commitment to holistic education ensures that students are prepared for higher education and the workforce. It boasts a strong tradition of student organizations and clubs. This fosters a diverse range of interests and talents. Today Aberdeen Baptist Lui Ming Choi College continues to thrive as a respected and influential educational institution. Its legacy is built on a foundation of faith education and community engagement. It’s a place where students learn and grow both academically and spiritually.
